As an American company, Signal will have to comply with American law. However, let’s say for the sake of argument that Signal becomes a Swiss company like Protonmail. To decrease latency for American users, Signal is hosted on Amazon Web Service and Microsoft Azure. Two of the largest American companies will comply with American law. These companies will force their users to comply with government regulations and company policies. Signal will have to remove its servers out of the US.
